The Lunarglide 5 is a rosherunmaxfr.cc soft shoe. I¡¯m a mild heel striker, but when I force a harder heel strike the softness of the heel becomes very apparent. And at 10mm drop (per Running Warehouse ¨C 28mm heel height, 18mm forefoot; 9.6 oz in size 9), there is more sole underfoot than I typically need for my stride. If you like a soft shoe with a lot of heel cushion, these would be a fine choice (I find them somewhat similar to the adidas Energy Boost). The sole feels quite similar to the Nike Lunaracer, though the latter is a bit lower profile. Pair the Lunaracer sole with the Lunarglide upper and forefoot fit and you¡¯d have one awesome shoe! Other than the lack of medial heel rubber, the outsole design is pretty good for a road shoe. I like the lateral midfoot coverage, something many shoes don¡¯t have, which, if you land midfoot, tends to eat up the exposed midsole. I like the solid rubber forefoot that gives great protection over the metatarsals, and the rubber seems to be holding up very well even though I¡¯ve run at least 35-40 miles on trails.Overall Impressions Nike Free 5.0 2015 sole heelThe Nike Free 5.0 2015 is lightweight, flexible, and incredibly comfortable. If your sole reason for wanting them is for casual use, go out and get a pair right now, they are that good. For running, they aren¡¯t fast and they aren¡¯t super cushioned so not the best choice for an all-around trainer. But for short to moderate length runs where you want a very flexible, minimally controlling Nike Air Max 2016 Flyknit Pascher ride with some cushion they are a solid option. And if, like me, you couldn¡¯t wear the 2014 version due to that tight band over the forefoot, rest assured that the problem has now been fixed. The Nike Free 5.0 is available for purchase at Running Warehouse US, Running Warehouse EU, and Zappos. You can also customize a pair in whichever color combo you could imagine via Nike ID. Sales made through these links help to support this site ¨C thanks!Writing that opening line is a big deal for me because the original Nike Free 3.0 remains one of my favorite shoes of all time. That shoe was lightweight, ultra-flexible, ran silent, and had a sock-like upper that was about as near perfection as a minimal shoe upper can get. My only complaint about the 3.0 v1 was that it was a bit narrow. The new 4.0 Flyknit matches the original 3.0 on all of the positives, and improves on it by having a much wider toebox. It¡¯s an amazingly good shoe. Many runners choose a moderately cushioned shoe to transition toward more minimal footwear figuring that it is a safer approach than jumping right into a shoe with no cushion at all. Because of this, the authors were interested in determining if running in a cushioned ¡°minimalist¡± shoe might more closely simulate barefoot-like running mechanics than a more traditionally cushioned shoe. To address this, they recruited 14 heel-striking runners and had them run in both the Nike Pegasus and the Nike Free 3.0. The Pegasus has about 20mm more cushion in the heel, and the cushioning in the Peg is also significantly softer than that of the Free. Each runner ran two 10-minute trials on an instrumented treadmill, one in each shoe, and biomechanical measures were recorded near the beginning and end of the trials to see if acclimation time to the shoes had any effect. Conclusion: In summary, the Nike Free Run+ is a great looking, very comfortable shoe that is an excellent choice for someone who runs in traditional trainers and wants to transition to less shoe. For someone who has already made the switch, it can serve a role as a recovery and distance shoe, and my feeling is that the Free Run+ would hold up well as a marathon shoe for more minimalist runners as it provides some protection from late-race form-breakdown (though I would probably recommend the Saucony Kinvara over the Free Run+ as a marathon shoe since it is a bit lighter and has a bit less heel). The Free Run+ will likely see continued use in my rotation, and Nike Air Max 2016 Femme Pascher although it is far from barefoot-like, it fits nicely in the transitional minimalist category. One concern present with every Free shoe is that the grooves in the sole tend to pick up rocks and other small road debris. I¡¯ve certainly picked up my share of pebbles in the 3.0, but no huge rocks that have forced me to stop for a clean-up during a run. That being said, I wouldn¡¯t recommend taking these off-road if you are worried about picking up debris.Nike Free 3.0 5.0 Heel CompareNike Free 3.0 (left) an Nike Air Max 2016 Homme Pascher d 5.0 (right).
